Cathodic Protection

At General Oil and Gas Services Limited, cathodic protection is an integral part of our scope of activities. This entails preventing corrosion by converting all the anodic sites on a metal surface to cathodic sites by supplying electrical current from an alternate source.

Cathodic protection systems become pertinent when we try to protect a wide range of metallic structures in varying environmental conditions such as in steel water or fuel pipelines and storage tanks such as home water heaters; offshore oil platforms  and onshore oil well casings but to mention a few. We design, construct, install and commission cathodic protection systems which are vital to pipeline integrity maintenance.

As a result of our technology centred methodologies, our cathode protection systems have the following benefits:

  • Simple to install
  • Suitable for localised protection
  • Less liable to cause interaction on neighbouring structures
  • Comparatively few anodes are needed
  • The voltage may be adjusted to allow for environmental and coating changes
